Unframed.

As a young child we spent time living and camping at Holloways Beach and our traditional homelands in Cape York peninsula. It is because of this that we learnt how to gather bush foods from both the East and West coast. While living at Holloways I remember mum taking us to spend time at the camp of Old Man Dick Roughsey (deceased) and his wife Elsie. He was one of the first aboriginal artists from Cape York, Mornington Island. During his lifetime he painted artefacts and illustrated children’s books. He and Elsie used to camp on the beach there and catch stingrays. Elsie would mince up the stingray and make it into a kind of rissole and cook it up. This artwork is about my memories from this time.
